County reports 3 new COVID-related deaths

The Chautauqua County Department of Health reported three new COVID-related deaths on Wednesday in addition to 70 new confirmed cases.

To date, 32 county residents with the coronavirus have died. According to county Health Department data, three people between the ages of 40 to 49 have died; two between the ages of 50 to 59; three between 60 to 69; 10 between 70 and 79; 11 between 80 to 89; and three over the age of 90.

The number of people with the virus in the hospital also increased, from 38 reported Tuesday to 43 on Wednesday. Those in quarantine also rose, from 1,696 to 1,753.

The seven-day positivity rate, the number of people confirmed to have COVID compared to the total number of tests administered, was at 9.1%, down from the 9.7% on Tuesday.

Of the new cases reported, 17 involve people living in the Dunkirk zip code, seven in Fredonia, 14 in Jamestown, five in Ashville and three each in Frewsburg, Mayville, Panama and Westfield.
