A day after new COVID cases in Chautauqua County were the lowest reported in a month, officials noted 108 new ones Wednesday along with nine additional virus-related deaths.

To date, there have been 6,398 confirmed cases of COVID within the county and 97 COVID-related fatalities.

Of the new cases, from information collected Tuesday, 16 were of people living in the Dunkirk zip code, 17 in Fredonia, 26 in Jamestown, nine in Lakewood, five in Sherman and seven in Westfield.

In Cattaraugus County, 43 new COVID cases were reported Tuesday evening. There have been 3,642 confirmed cases, of which 414 were currently considered active. There also have been 3,156 total recoveries to date as well as 48 people with COVID in the hospital, 71 deaths and a seven-day positivity rate of 6%.
