COVID hospitalizations remain low locally

Only six people with COVID-19 remain in Chautauqua County hospitals, the health department reported Monday, continuing what has been a significant decline in hospitalizations, active cases and positivity rate.

On Monday, the county recorded 65 new cases of the virus from Friday through Sunday. They include 32 in the Jamestown zip code, seven in Dunkirk, four in Mayville, three in Fredonia, Frewsburg and Westfield, and two each in Silver Creek, Dewittville and Lakewood.

To date there have been 7,590 confirmed cases, 7,324 recoveries and 137 COVID-related deaths. There were currently 129 active cases, 366 people in quarantine and a seven-day positivity rate of 1.2%.
