Dunkirk police this afternoon issued a warning about a scam currently taking place.

The phone scam indicates to callers that your Social Security number has been compromised and it will be frozen. The scam also states that if you don’t talk to them or call back there will be a warrant for your arrest.

In a news release today, the department noted, “This is a scam. If you received this call do not call back or give any information, simply just hang up.”
