Heavy rains leave mark on region

Some portions of Chautauqua County had nearly 3 inches of rain after thunderstorms rolled through the region on Saturday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, Mayville had 2.85 inches of rain while Fredonia had 2.4 inches. Further north, East Concord had 3.5 inches and Derby had 2.52 inches. Both those locations are in Erie County, N.Y.

As for other Chautauqua County locations, Gerry had 2.2 inches, Dunkirk and Jamestown recorded 2.16 inches and Clymer had 2 inches. Falconer had 1.2 inches of rain while Silver Creek noted less than an inch.

In addition, due to the gusty winds, there were reports of trees down in Stockton, Bemus Point, Jamestown and other locations.

Temperatures are expected to hit 80 today with hotter temperatures arriving toward the end of the week.
