SUNY Fredonia students protest against sexual predators
A “Standing Against Sexual Predators” protest involving at least 100 students lasted for about 80 minutes Sunday afternoon.
According to The Leader, the student-run university newspaper, those involved began the protest at LoGrasso Hall and then proceeded to march around the campus, even stopping at the home of university President Dr. Stephen Kolison. Chants during the march included: “What do we want? Justice! When do we want it? Now!”
The Leader’s Twitter feed covered a majority of the protest and did not get into specific details of any one incident. Some who marched in the protest talked about being sexually assaulted.
When the rally went to president’s front lawn, Kolison came out and spoke to the group.
“I can tell you this … I will not tolerate any conduct from anybody … that will be detrimental to our school,” he said. “You have my assurance.”
Kolison then marched for a short time with the group. He then told students he would be going to a meeting to address the protest.
The rally ended around 2:15 p.m.
