UPDATE: Travel Advisory Lifted

Effective immediately, the travel advisory that was put in place in the city of Dunkirk, has been lifted.

Dunkirk police officials ask drivers to use caution as they travel on the roads, allowing adequate space between vehicles and account for extra time to reach your destination.

Police officers also ask city residents to continue to observe the alternate parking regulations so the City can continue it’s snow removal efforts.

A travel advisory was issued for a short time early this morning to plows time to clear the streets within the city.

According to the National Weather Service’s Buffalo office, Dunkirk is forecast to receive about another inch of snow through Thursday morning.

Dunkirk had received about 3.5 inches of snow through noon Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service, and then received more snow when a lake effect snow warning that was to expire Tuesday was extended through 10 a.m. today. National Weather Service officials were expecting between seven and 13 inches of new snow in persistent snow band areas.
