Buffalo man jailed on attempted robbery charge
A Buffalo man was jailed Wednesday morning on an attempted robbery charge after police were called to Dollar General around 9:15 a.m.
Officers had received a report of an armed robbery in progress at the 226 Winsor St. store. Patrols were advised that the suspect — later identified as 18-year-old Lester L. Santiago — was still inside when officers arrived.
Santiago was taken into custody without incident inside the store.
“Santiago had reportedly advised the clerk at the register that he had a gun and that he wanted the register opened. The clerk was able to signal another employee in the store who did call 911 reporting the situation to responding officers,” JPD said in a news release.
No gun was located, and no weapon was displayed.
