Alleged harassment via fake Facebook accounts nets charge for Dunkirk man
WESTFIELD — A Dunkirk man who police say created a dozen fake Facebook accounts to, among other things, harass another person was charged this week.
The Westfield Police Department received word Dec. 15 that 45-year-old Mark R. Yerico was allegedly creating fake accounts on the popular social networking site using another person’s name and her personal photographs without permission. During the three-month investigation by Westfield police, it is alleged the Dunkirk man created a minimum of 12 such fake Facebook accounts to “post false, inaccurate information about the victim.”
The action, according to police in a news release, was in violation of an order of protection. Yerico was served a ticket to appear in court on a second-degree criminal contempt charge.
