Man killed in shooting incident in Jamestown

A 43-year-old man was killed in a shooting incident currently under investigation, the Jamestown Police Department announced early Friday.

Officers were called shortly after midnight for a reported shooting at 38 Peach St. Upon arrival, the man was located in the side yard of the residence with a gunshot wound.

The unidentified victim was transported to UPMC Chautauqua where he later died as a result of his injuries.

A search warrant to enter the property was obtained and forensic crews began filming around the back of the property where the man was found. Two dogs were removed with the assistance of the city’s dog control officer.

Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt was at the scene around 9:15 this morning.
