22-year-old skateboarder killed in Sunday night crash

A 22-year-old Bemus Point resident riding a skateboard was struck and killed late Sunday, the New York State Police announced.

Fluvanna firefighters and Chautauqua County EMS were called to Route 430 in the town of Ellery shortly after 9 p.m. for a vehicle-pedestrian crash. The New York State Police also responded.

According to the state police, a 2011 Chevy Malibu operated by a 19-year-old was traveling west and struck Bannon L. Eimiller, 22 of Bemus Point, who was also traveling west in the westbound lane riding a skateboard.

“Troopers attempted life saving measures including CPR and utilizing an AED until paramedics arrived,” the state police said. “Eimiller was pronounced deceased and transported to Erie County Medical Center.”

Route 430 was closed to traffic for several hours. The state police Collision Reconstruction Unit and Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted in the investigation.
