Fredonia man sentenced to prison in attempted burglary case

A Fredonia man has been sentenced to three and a half years in state prison, plus five years post-release supervision, stemming from an October 2020 burglary-related arrest.

Shawn Hallmark was sentenced Wednesday in Chautauqua County Court before Judge David Foley after pleading guilty to second-degree attempted burglary.

Hallmark was charged on Oct. 12 and 15 in 2020 by the Fredonia Police Department with fourth-degree grand larceny, possession of burglar tools, second-degree burglary, endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree harassment and petit larceny.

Details of the incident and what may have led to the bevy of charges has not been released by the police department.

In November of last year, Hallmark was indicted on charges of second-degree burglary, petit larceny, possession of burglary tools and two counts of second-degree harassment.
