JAMESTOWN — A 33-year-old Jamestown man was killed Friday morning when his motorcycle struck a sedan head-on.

An investigation into the collision remains ongoing, the Jamestown Police Department announced in a news release. A portion of Newland Avenue, between Colfax Street and Chautauqua Avenue, was closed for several hours as members of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team looked over the scene.

According to Jamestown Police Chief Timothy Jackson, a westbound motorcycle being operated by Felix J. Figueroa-Torres struck an eastbound Ford on Newland Avenue at about 5:45 a.m. The force of the crash threw the city man from the motorcycle.

Figueroa-Torres was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage in the crash.

Members of the Jamestown Fire Department, Jamestown Police Department, Alstar EMS and Chautauqua County EMS all responded to Newland. A county coroner was also summoned.
