Buffalo man charged following police pursuit
A Buffalo man who led police on a pursuit before striking a deer and ending the chase is facing numerous charges.
The New York State Police announced the arrest of 26-year-old Ricardo Sanchez following Sunday’s incident that began when he allegedly fled Jamestown police. Troopers later located the vehicle after searching portions of Route 60, at which time a traffic stop was attempted on Route 380.
“The vehicle failed to comply and continued driving on county roads through Ellicott, Gerry, Ellery and Stockton before coming to a stop after striking a deer on County Route 54,” the state police said in a news release.
Sanchez reportedly displayed multiple signs of impairment. A search of his vehicle also turned up 11 suboxone strips.
The Buffalo man was transported to police barracks in Jamestown; he was reportedly found to be under the influence of a “central nervous system stimulant, a narcotic, and cannabis,” the state police said.
Sanchez is scheduled to appear in Stockton Town Court on charges of driving while ability impaired by drugs, third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
