The New York State Police released the name of the man killed in Monday’s crash involving a Thruway truck on Interstate 90.

The man was identified as 70-year-old Thomas B. Sweat of Buffalo. Troopers say Sweat was eastbound in the left lane around 1:30 p.m. in town of Pomfret when, for unknown reasons, his 2006 Porsche Cayenne veered off the left side of the road.

“The vehicle corrected into the lane before over-correcting back to the left shoulder where he struck the back end of the Thruway truck,” the New York State Police said in a news release.

Sweat was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the SUV, identified as 57-year-old Buffalo resident Angela Singletary, was taken by helicopter to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo. Singletary suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

A Thruway employee, 57-year-old Christopher Cady of Sherman, suffered minor injuries.
