PORTLAND — An accident with injuries early Friday morning on Route 5 near Van Buren Road remains under investigation, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department reported Sunday morning.

At about 3:37 a.m., deputies responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, deputies located a heavily damaged vehicle in the ditch with two victims. The victims were treated on scene by EMS personnel for their injuries. One victim was transported by Alstar to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo and the other was flown by STAT MedEvac to UPMC Hamot for their injuries.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Town of Portland fire department, Brocton fire department, Chautauqua County EMS, and Alstar.
