A 43-year-old Jamestown man has been sentenced to state prison following a May burglary.

The Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office on Monday announced that David Hanley will serve two and a third to seven years in prison. The city man pleaded guilty in July to a third-degree burglary charge.

In May, officers with the Jamestown Police Department responded to the area of Hampton Inn on North Main Street for a report of a person possibly breaking glass in the wooded area. Officers located a broken window on a nearby residence as well as an unsecured door.

Hanley was located inside and taken into custody without incident. At the time he was charged with second-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief and obstructing governmental administration.

Hanley entered the guilty plea July 29 before County Court Judge David Foley.
