Jamestown police have identified the city man shot and killed outside his Water Street home Tuesday night.

In a news release, JPD said Angel L. Pacheco was shot in his front yard around 8:40 p.m. The city man was transported to UPMC Chautauqua where he later died of his injuries.

The homicide investigation remains ongoing, the department said.

Several officers and investigators had responded to a report of a gunshot victim outside a 60 Water St. home. In addition to Jamestown police, the county Forensic Investigation Team and members of the county District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene.

A portion of Water Street was cordoned off with yellow caution police tape. Officers could be seen with flashlights searching the ground as well as looking over a Jeep parked out front of a nearby residence.

A woman who lives near the scene told The Post-Journal, “We heard a boom, and before you know it we seen lights going by the house. Someone came by and heard on the scanner it was a gunshot.”

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to contact the Jamestown Police Department at 483-7537 or via the Tips Line at 483-8477. All calls are kept confidential.
