Jamestown woman pleads guilty to drug conspiracy charges

A 28-year-old Jamestown woman pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of acetyl fentanyl, 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, 400 grams or more of fentanyl and 500 grams or more of cocaine.

Antasia Babcock entered the plea before U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra Jr.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Babcock allegedly conspired with others, including co-defendant Jun Martinez, to sell cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin in the Jamestown area. Martinez reportedly arranged to receive the narcotics via mail from a source out of state.

In mid-September 2020, Martinez traveled out of state to acquire more narcotics in-person and was stopped by an Illinois state trooper. During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered about 6,359 grams of methamphetamine, 3,157 grams of fentanyl, 2,241 grams of cocaine and marijuana products.

“While Martinez was detained on Illinois state charges, Babcock continued the narcotics distribution in Jamestown,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

On Oct. 16, 2020, investigators executed a search warrant to the Wescott Street residence that Babcock shared with Martinez and recovered methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a plastic packaging sealer machine, a drug ledger and about $62,255.

Martinez was previously convicted and is awaiting sentencing.

The charges carry a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, a maximum of life, and a $10,000,000 fine.

Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 21 before Sinatra.
