Jamestown police were investigating a shooting incident Wednesday afternoon believed to be the result of a verbal argument.

Officers were alerted after 5 p.m. to reports of shots fired in the 100 block of Broadhead Avenue.

Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department said a person fired five rounds following an argument that escalated. He said one of the rounds went through the trunk of a vehicle, which then traveled through an empty car seat and lodged into a rear passenger seat.

A juvenile was in the passenger seat but was not injured.

“They were extremely lucky,” Samuelson said. “And thankfully the car seat was empty.”

Wednesday’s incident, Samuelson said, is not tied to the shooting homicide that occurred in Jamestown over the weekend.

Starting at $3.50/week.
