WESTFIELD — A male passenger received serious injuries after a motor-vehicle accident at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to Route 5 near Eighth Street in the town. The operator was identified as 21-year-old, Bisitt Welday of Roxbury, Mass., and was found to be traveling eastbound when she lost control of the vehicle. Aman Asgedom, 25, was treated for serious injuries at the scene by EMS and the county medic and transported to Hamot.

The operator and a juvenile female were treated for minor injuries at the scene and transported to Hamot.

Welday was issued tickets for speed not reasonable and prudent, failure to keep right, and unlicensed operator. She will answer to her charges at a later date in town of Westfield Court.
