Wanted Jamestown man apprehended

JAMESTOWN — A man on the Jamestown Police Department’s Top 10 Most Wanted list was taken into custody after briefly fleeing officers when approached Thursday.

Jorge R. Garay was wanted on charges of first-degree robbery and second-degree menacing.

A little after 3 p.m. officers observed the 37-year-old in the area of East Eighth and Fulton streets.

“When officers approached him to take him into custody, Garay ran away despite loud verbal commands by officers to stop,” the Jamestown Police Department said in a news release.”

After a brief pursuit, Garay was apprehended.

Christine M. Baca, 28, who was walking with Garay, reportedly attempted to push officers off Garay while he was being taken into custody.

Both were transported to Jamestown City Jail.

In addition to the warrants, Garay is facing additional charges of resisting arrest and second-degree obstructing governmental administration. Baca is facing a charge of second-degree obstructing governmental administration.

The pair was held for arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
