Frewburg man charged in child porn investigation

A 38-year-old Frewsburg man has been charged after an investigation into child pornography.

New York State Police in Jamestown reported Tuesday that John Peterson was charged with second-degree and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon as well as 10 counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of Jamestown received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children Cyber Tip line that between December 2020 and March 2022, multiple pornographic files of underage subjects had been uploaded to electronic devices belonging to Peterson.

A search warrant was executed at Peterson’s residence, during which time a deserialized loaded 9MM handgun and two electronic devices were seized. The Troop A Computer Crime Unit analyzed the devices and confirmed the images were present. Peterson was arrested Sept. 26.

Peterson is scheduled to be in the town of Carroll Court later.
