MACHIAS — A 17-year-old girl died in a one-vehicle crash Saturday in Cattaraugus County.

The accident was reported at 10:34 p.m. in the town of Machias. The exact location of the crash was not disclosed by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the incident.

In a news release, police say the driver lost control at a sharp intersection before the vehicle left the road and struck a tree.

The 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene while two other occupants remain in critical condition. Other occupants suffered minor injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

“There are no further details as the investigation is ongoing,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
