Eight charged in city after warrant leads to drugs, weapon

Eight individuals are facing charges after a search warrant was executed in Dunkirk around 6:20 a.m. Friday.

The Dunkirk Police Department along with special response team, Dunkirk Police Narcotics Detectives, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigators, the Dunkirk Police K-9 and Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office K-9 were involved in the search, which was the result of a three-month investigation into narcotics sales out of 532 Columbus Ave. Inside the residence at the time of the search warrant execution was 39-year-old Rodney L. Townsel, 24-year-old Cassandra M. Hicks, 29-year-old Danielle Gee, 40-year-old Angela R. Goetz, 38-year-old Leanne R. White, 42-year-old Fernando Martinez Jr., 45-year-old Brian Kuzdale, and 39-year-old Juan A. Ortiz.

As a result of the search, investigators found a .45 caliber Glock handgun, 7.45 grams of fentanyl, 3.0 grams of methamphetamine, 1.85 grams of cocaine/fentanyl mix, scales and packaging material for narcotics sales and $312 in U.S. currency. Townsel was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, three counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. Hicks was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, three counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. Gee, Goetz, White, Kuzdale and Ortiz were all charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. Martinez was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. All suspects were transported to the Dunkirk Police Department to be arraigned in the city of Dunkirk Court.
