The New York State Park Police conducted a search and rescue for a lost cross-country skier at Allegany State Park on Wednesday evening. The man, 59, was reported lost near the Art Roscoe and Ryan Trails.

Park Police first contacted the man via cell phone. Next, with assistance from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Department, a drone was used to pinpoint his location.

A Park Police officer then used a tracked utility vehicle to pick him up. The incident was reported at 7:13 p.m. and the skier was escorted out at 9:22 in good health.
