MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua Lake Central School District is “grateful” that no students were involved in a bus accident that occurred early Wednesday morning.

Dr. Josh Liddell, superintendent, told The Post-Journal that one of the school district’s buses was in an accident around 9 a.m. Wednesday. The single-vehicle accident occurred on West Lake Road as Bus 142 was returning to Chautauqua Lake Central School after dropping students off in Ashville.

“Thankfully, no students were on the bus, and the driver walked away with no injuries,” Liddell said. “The driver was checked out at a local hospital as a precautionary measure. There were no other vehicles involved in this incident. The district is grateful that no one was hurt.”

He said the school district has not yet determined the full extent of the damage to the bus; however, it appears the vehicle sustained significant front-end damage.

Starting at $3.50/week.
