Three charged after city pursuit damages patrol car

Dunkirk police on Wednesday released details on a 14-minute pursuit that damaged a patrol car and took place last week in the city.
At 1:40 a.m. April 13, a Dunkirk officer attempted to conduct a vehicle and traffic stop on a vehicle traveling without its lights on in the area of East Seventh Street and Columbus Avenue. The suspect vehicle immediately failed to comply and led police on a pursuit throughout city streets, then left the city south on Route 60 to the traffic circle and back into the city.
The vehicle continued to flee and at one point intentionally rammed a Dunkirk police patrol vehicle causing extensive damage. After the pursuit, the vehicle abruptly stopped near McKinley Avenue and West Fifth Street where the three vehicle occupants fled on foot from the vehicle. All occupants were apprehended in the immediate area shortly after.
The vehicle was found to have been reported stolen as of April 9 by the city of Buffalo Police Department. Through an investigation, property was recovered from the vehicle which was reported stolen from a vehicle entry in the city of Dunkirk earlier.
The driver was identified as Kenneth Craig, 19, of West Seneca and was charged with three felonies, including two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, one count of second-degree criminal mischief as well as the misdemeanors of unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree obstructing governmental admininistration, criminal impersonation and resisting arrest. Craig, who is currently on parole, was also issued 37 traffic tickets.
The two passengers, Christopher Delosangeles, 18, of Buffalo, and Marvin Royster, 21, of Buffalo, were both charged with one felony of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and two misdemeanors to include second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.
Dunkirk Police Patrol were assisted by the Fredonia Police Department, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department, the New York State Police and Buffalo Police Department.
All were issued tickets to return Dunkirk City Court date and released per state bail reform.
