Wild ride on Fourth leads to charges

A wild ride Tuesday through the locked front gate of the JMI Business Center that started in Jamestown and ended in the town of Ellery has led to a number of charges for a man.

At about 7:45 a.m., Jamestown police responded to a vehicle complaint at 1808 Washington St. Dispatch informed officers that the JMI company truck hit the locked gate and was traveling on Washington Street toward Route 430 outside city limits. The vehicle led officers on a pursuit to Centralia and Pickard roads in Ellery where city officers and county sheriff’s deputies were able to stop the vehicle. The driver was identified as Ray Babyak, who was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree grand larceny and second-degree criminal mischief.
