Jamestown men plead guilty in federal drug probe

Two Jamestown men have pleaded guilty for their roles in a local heroin-fentanyl conspiracy case.

Justin Yuchnitz, 29, faces up to 20 years in prison while Brandon Andino, 38, faces up to 40 years, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Monday.

Yuchnitz pleaded guilty to a federal charge of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, heroin and fentanyl. Andino pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, 40 grams or more of fentanyl.

In a news release, the U.S. Attorney’s Office claims Yuchnitz sold heroin and fentanyl he received from another person, identified as Joseph Zaso, utilizing electronic media, such as Facebook and CashApp, to carry out drug trafficking activities.

“For example, in February 2021, he utilized his CashApp account to pay $2,000 to Zaso to cover his drug debts,” the government said. “During the conspiracy, defendant Andino distributed large amounts of heroin and fentanyl that he also received from Joseph Zaso. Andino also distributed heroin and fentanyl on behalf of Zaso to Zaso’s associates and customers.”

Others reported to be involved in the drug conspiracy case have been convicted; Zaso and another man, Kyle Lewis, are scheduled to go to trial in February 2024, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Yuchnitz is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 5, 2024, while Andino is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 8.
