Jamestown man held in Friday stabbing incident

A male stabbing victim was airlifted to a hospital Friday afternoon, and a city man is being held on several charges, Jamestown police announced.

Officers were alerted at about 2:50 p.m. of a reported stabbing at a north side residence. Upon arrival, police located a male suffering from “several stab wounds in front of the residence,” JPD said in a news release.

It was learned that the suspect, identified as 46-year-old Carlos R. Castro, was still on scene. Castro was taken into custody without incident and was transported to Jamestown City Jail.

The victim was treated on scene by Jamestown firefighters and Chautauqua County EMS before being transported by helicopter to the hospital. The severity of the victim’s injuries was not immediately known.

Castro is facing charges of first-degree assault and two counts each of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing. He is being held for arraignment in court.

Officers were further assisted Friday by the New York State Police.
