Beginning at 5 p.m. today, the New York State Thruway will be closing the eastbound lanes from Exit 60 in Westfield to Exit 59 in Dunkirk-Fredonia. Village motorists are expected to be impacted.

The Fredonia Office of Emergency Management expects the detour will take a toll on Route 20 traffic as well as Main Street. At the roundabout, the state Department of Transportation estimates the circle at Route 60 “will be operating at 169% capacity. If you are able to avoid the area, please do.”

The detour is through 7 a.m. Saturday due to the removal of the North Road overpass that has been damaged by oversized truck traffic.
