A body found near the breakwall walkway off of Lakefront Boulevard and North Main Street is not being considered a suspicious death.

At about 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, the Dunkirk Police Department responded the the scene off of Lake Front Boulevard and North Main Street. An investigation was conducted by Patrol, Detectives, Crime Scene Technicians, the Coroner’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office.

There was no threat to the public. The Dunkirk Police were assisted by the Dunkirk Fire Department and Chautauqua County Emergency Services for traffic control. “Out of respect for the family, we are not releasing any additional information,” the department said.
