Endicott resident sentenced in attack on Lakeview Shock officer

An Endicott resident has been sentenced for attacking a corrections officer at the Lakeview Shock facility in Brocton.

According to the District Attorney’s Office, Amanda Diaz, 39, was sentenced by Judge David Foley to an indeterminate state prison sentence of 1 1/2 to 3 years after being convicted of second-degree attempted assault, a class E felony, after she assaulted a Corrections Officer while confined in the Lakeview Shock Incarceration Facility.

In June 2022, Ms. Diaz assaulted a corrections officer while confined to Lakeview Shock in Brocton on an unrelated matter.

Schmidt thanked the New York State Police and the Lakeview Shock staff, and in particular, the Corrections Officers who oversee the facility, for their hard work and dedication. “An assault on any person is bad enough, but any attack on the men and women who serve our community and put themselves in harm’s way to protect the rest of us is terrible and egregious. I hope this conviction sends a message to the community that these types of crimes will not be tolerated in Chautauqua County,” he said.

The case of the People v. Diaz was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Andrew Molitor.
