Discovery of drugs lead to charges for city pair
A pair of city residents were charged after a parole check at 111 E. Second St., upper apartment, in Dunkirk led to a narcotics seizure.
Investigators from the Dunkirk Police Department and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office were called to assist Parole after the drugs were found in the apartment around 2:25 p.m. Monday. A search warrant from the City of Dunkirk Court was then obtained.
The search of the residence resulted in the seizure of 4.85 ounces of cocaine, 11.38 grams of crack cocaine, 0.61 grams of fentanyl, scales and packaging material for the distribution of narcotics and $2,788.00. Christian A. Horta-Romero, 26, and Onix Lopez-Ortiz, 45, were both charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. Horta-Romero and Lopez-Ortiz were transported to the Dunkirk Police Department where they were to be arraigned in the city of Dunkirk Court.
