City man charged after possessing crack, cocaine

A Dunkirk man is facing drug charges after a six-month investigation by officers.

On Friday, a search warrant was executed at 431 Columbus St. upper apartment in the city. Investigators from Dunkirk police Department, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, and Jamestown Police Department executed the search warrant with Dunkirk Police Special Response Team making the entry.

While the Dunkirk team was approaching the residence, Larry Brooks, 37, was observed running from the residence. Brooks was detained a short distance from Columbus St. and found to be in possession of crack and powder cocaine and over $5,000.

As a result of the search Investigators seized 12.68 grams of cocaine, 5.2 grams of crack cocaine, scales and packaging material for the distribution of narcotics. Brooks was charged with three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and first-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. Brooks was transported to the Dunkirk Police Department to be arraigned in the City of Dunkirk Court.
