Three charged after narcotics probe in city

A five-month investigation into narcotics activity in Dunkirk resulted in a search warrant and three arrests.
Dunkirk Police Department and narcotics investigators executed the warrant at 130 Townsend St., upper apartment at 5:25 p.m. Thursday. Located at the residence at the time of the search warrant was Yajaira Herrera-Hernandez, 47, and two minor children.
As a result of the search, investigators seized 4.87 grams of crack cocaine, scales and packaging material for the distribution of narcotics and $645. Herrera-Hernandez was charged with third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a child.
While the residence was still being searched Chastity M. Martinez, 32, of Dunkirk arrived to pick up one of the children. Martinez was placed under arrest for an active arrest warrant for the charge of second-degree gang assault.
A short time later Dunkirk Police located Antony J. Alvarez, 20, of Dunkirk, who also had an arrest warrant for second-degree gang assault. Alvarez was also in possession of more than four grams of crack cocaine and $90. Alvarez was additionally charged with third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

All three suspects were transported to the Dunkirk Police Department where they were to be arraigned in the City of Dunkirk Court.
