Man charged after entering multiple vehicles in city

An 18-year-old man has been charged after multiple vehicles were entered on Nevins Street in the city.
At approximately 3:18 a.m. Tuesday, Dunkirk Police Patrol officers discovered vehicles on the 100 block of Nevins Street with their interior lights on and doors open. A white male was observed leaving the area.
Additional responding units located the individual, who was identified as Jamie Waclawski Jr. Upon further investigation, Waclawski was found in possession of several vape devices, loose change, and a prescription bottle of medication belonging to another person.
After making contact with the owner of the prescription, it was confirmed that Waclawski had unlawfully entered her vehicle and taken the medication without permission.
Waclawski was subsequently arrested and charged with petit larceny and third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was released on a ticket and is scheduled to return to City Court later.
After the incident, police reminded residents to lock their vehicles and avoid leaving valuables inside. The Dunkirk Police Department continues to encourage residents to report suspicious or narcotics-related activity in their neighborhoods.
