City man charged in threats with shears
A Dunkirk man was charged after threatening residents with a garden tool on Main Street last week.
Dunkirk police report Anselmo Mejia-Urjuan, 55, was charged with menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal impersonation of another.
Police received the call around 6:42 p.m. Thursday. A description was given over the phone and relayed to responding officers. The male was located a short distance away and detained.
Officers then made contact with the victim. The male was unwanted at the residence and when confronted he pulled a pair of sharp garden shears and threatened to kill the victim.
He then left the residence and was located by officers. The male tried to pass his identity as someone else. He provided an ID that was clearly not him to officers. He later admitted he lied and admitted his real name as Mejia-Urjuan. He was released and will answer charges later in city court.
