Seven charged after Dunkirk busts include fentanyl, meth

Items confiscated by law enforcement from two search warrants in the Washington Park area.

Seven individuals, including some tied to drug activity in the past, are facing charges after an investigation into narcotics activity in and around Washington Park in the city of Dunkirk.

A pair of search warrants took place Thursday. Narcotics Investigators from the Dunkirk Police Department and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office executed the search warrants with Dunkirk Police Special Response Team making entry into the residences.

At 6:23 p.m., prior to the search warrants being executed, Narcotics Investigators along with the Dunkirk Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had been observed leaving a residence located on the southside of Washington Park.

Located in the vehicle was Justin Schuk, 43, of Dunkirk, who was known to investigators to have an arrest warrant for criminal possession of a controlled substance. A search of the vehicle resulted in a seizure of fentanyl, methamphetamine and U.S. currency.

At 7:03 p.m., search warrants were executed at 36 E. Fifth St. and 37 E. Sixth St. lower apartment.

Several subjects were located inside each residence.

As a result of a search of both residences and the vehicle Investigators seized 34.86 grams of fentanyl, a quantity of cocaine, methamphetamine and suboxone, scales and packaging material used for the sale and distribution of narcotics and $735 in U.S. currency.

Schuk was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and the arrest warrant out of Dunkirk City Court. Arlene Y. Rivera, 37, of Dunkirk and Brandon Echevarria, 33, of Fredonia were charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. Sandro Rodriguez, 40, of Dunkirk was charged with second-degree criminal nuisance. Donald Tolbert, 51, of Dunkirk and Dawn Stein, 49, of Dunkirk were charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Johnny Williamson, 57, of Dunkirk was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. All were transported to the Dunkirk Police Department to be arraigned in the City of Dunkirk Court. Stein, Tolbert and Williamson were released with tickets.
