Jamestown man facing sex crimes with children charges
An 18-year-old Jamestown man is facing numerous charges for multiple sex crimes with children.
On Friday, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation stationed at the State Police at Jamestown charged Benjamin A. Christ with felony predatory sexual assault against a child, felony first-degree rape, felony first-degree sex abuse, felony promoting a sexual performance by a child, felony possessing a sexual performance by a child and endangering the welfare of a child.
The Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Jamestown with the assistance from the Troop A Computer Crimes Unit, conducted an Internet Crimes Against Children investigation in the city. It determined Christ possessed child pornography and was disseminating child pornography. Christ was pictured with a child, resulting in the additional arrests once the victim less than 11-years of age was identified.
Christ was transported to Chautauqua County Jail pending CAP arraignment.
The Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office also assisted in this investigation.
The mission of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is to identify individuals online who are attempting to lure children to meet for sex or those disseminating child sexual abuse material. The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program (ICAC program) helps state and local law enforcement agencies develop an effective response to technology-facilitated child sexual exploitation and Internet crimes against children.
