Jamestown man sentenced on drug, weapons charges

A Jamestown man has been sentenced on various drug and weapons charges.

According to District Attorney Jason Schmidt, 24-year-old Nylix Thomas, age 24 was sentenced Thursday before Judge David W. Foley.

Thomas pleaded guilty on Nov. 25, 2025 to two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both class “B” felonies; two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both class “C” violent felonies; and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both class “D” felonies.

For the two drug charges, he was sentenced to five years in state prison plus two years post-release supervision.

For the two second-degree weapons charges, he was sentenced to five years in state prison plus five years post-release supervision.

For one of the two third-degree weapons charged, he was sentenced to five years in state prison plus three years post release supervision. On the other third-degree weapons charge he was sentenced to 1 1/3 years to 4 years in state prison.

All sentences are to run concurrently.

The case is the result of an investigation by the Jamestown Metro Drug Task force with the assistance of the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force, wherein they executed a search warrant at the defendant’s residence on Jan. 14, 2025, and found a quantity of cocaine, and a loaded pistol. The Dunkirk Police Department also assisted.

On March 25, 2025, while the defendant was out on bail, the Jamestown Police Department arrested the defendant on an outstanding warrant, and subsequently discovered him in possession of a loaded pistol.
