A rollover accident in the Dunkirk on Tuesday led to charges for a city man.
At 4:16 p.m., Dunkirk Police, Dunkirk Fire and Alstar Ambulance were dispatched to the area of Central Avenue and East Green Street. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle on its roof with entrapment of one subject inside. Fire and rescue personnel were able to extricate the individual, who was identified as Michael J. Lemanski, 54, of Dunkirk. He was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.
It was determined by officers that the vehicle operated by Lemanski had struck a traffic control pole at the intersection and did further property damage to a private residence before the vehicle rolled over. Further investigation led to Lemanski being charged with DWI, fourth-degree criminal mischief and several vehicle and traffic law violations. Lemanski was released on tickets.
The accident did cause the traffic light at Central Avenue and East Green Street to malfunction. Dunkirk Police remind drivers to treat an intersection where a traffic light is out as a 4-way stop.
