Officials confirm identify of body discovered in lake
Daniel “Scott” Emerson
Officials with the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office have confirmed that the body pulled from Chautauqua Lake Saturday morning is that of Daniel “Scott” Emerson.
Around 8:45 a.m. the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a possible body on the shoreline near the Stow Ferry in North Harmony. Deputies, with assistance from the Chautauqua County Coroners’ Office and the Lakewood Busti Police Department, had at that time preliminarily identified the body as that of Emerson, 64, of Lakewood.
Emerson was reported missing to the Lakewood-Busti Police Department on March 5. Investigation found that Emerson entered onto Chautauqua Lake driving his F150 pickup on March 4 and proceeded north on the ice before going through it under the I-86 bridge. Emerson’s truck was located on March 16 by divers and recovered on March 20.
