A high wind warning remains in effect for Western New York until 8 p.m. Thursday.

Strong winds are taking down trees and power lines. Scattered power outages were reported for about 1,040 residents. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

The National Weather Service reported gusts of 53 mph in Fredonia around 1:45 p.m.; Clymer, 46 mph, at 1:15 p.m.; and 44 mph at Jamestown airport.
