Westfield man charged with drugs in village park

WESTFIELD — A suspicious situation has led to charges for a village resident.

At approximately 10:32 a.m. Friday, the Westfield Police Department responded to Moore Park. A concerned citizen reported that two individuals were using drugs in the gazebo. Westfield Police Department officers and Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene and identified Daniel S. Geiger, 34. Geiger was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and appeared to be impaired. During a search, officers located a small quantity of fentanyl in Geiger’s possession.

During the investigation, officers also determined that Geiger had an active bench warrant through the Evans Police Department. Geiger was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was subsequently turned over to the Evans Police Department on the outstanding warrant.

Geiger will be in town court later.
