Teen charged after striking another with brick

A teenager has been charged in second-degree assault after a fight in Dunkirk. City police said Monday that at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, they received a report of a fight near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Courtney Street. After an investigation it was determined the fight involved two female juveniles where a 17-year-old struck a 16-year-old in the face with a brick. The 17-year-old was issued a summons for the youth part of County Court.

Police say man tried to run ex off road

Dunkirk police arrested a man after he allegedly tried to run his ex-girlfriend off the road. Police took a walk-in complaint at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday for a female who stated that her ex-boyfriend, Jorge Davila Jr., 36, had just attempted to run her off the road and chase her. Davila had an order of protection directing him to stay away from the woman. Davila was taken into custody on two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and single counts of first-degree criminal contempt and second-degree reckless endangerment. City firefighters douse shrub, brush fire near building

Dunkirk firefighters extinguished a bush and shrub fire on Saturday morning near a building. At 6:24 a.m., the Dunkirk Fire Department was dispatched to 60-62 Franklin Ave. Upon arrival, crews found bushes and shrubs burning on the southwest corner of the building. Crews used 1¾ hand line, tools and ventilation fans to extinguish the fire and clear light smoke conditions in a first floor office. The fire was contained to exterior bushes with light smoke conditions inside 60-62 Franklin Ave. Crews remained on scene for 45 minutes. The fire is currently under investigation.

Juvenile injured after driving vehicle

STOCKTON – An unidentified juvenile has been hurt while operating a motor vehicle. According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday around 11 p.m. deputies responded to a reported vehicle off the roadway on Stockton-Hartfield Road in the town of Stockton. As a result of the accident it was found that the juvenile operator had sustained injuries. The juvenile operator was later transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital in the City of Dunkirk by Stockton EMS to be treated for non life threatening injuries.
