CWC to hold Wild Turkey Scavenger Hunt Saturday
ASHVILLE – The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy will hold a Wild Turkey Scavenger Hunt family event on Saturday at 10 a.m. at their Dobbins Woods Preserve on Bly Hill Road in Ashville. Participants will learn about the wild turkey, then set off on the trail and use their new turkey knowledge to find scavenger hunt items, complete challenges, and play fun games. A live turkey will also be part of the festivities.
“This is the perfect time of year to celebrate the wild turkey,” said CWC Conservationist Tricia Bergstue. “With the games and challenges we have planned, this definitely won’t be your average scavenger hunt. It will be a great activity for couples, families, friends, church groups, and clubs. People will also have a chance to see a live turkey up-close.”
The event is free and open to the public. Teams of two or more people are invited to participate. Each team will need a camera-enabled device in order to play. Teams will be competing for the grand prize of a frozen Thanksgiving turkey.
Participants should dress for the weather. Waterproof boots are recommended as parts of the trail are muddy. For directions to the Preserve, visit chautauquawatershed.org or call the CWC at 716-664-2166.
Registration is requested but not required. To register, call the CWC or send an email to info@chautauquawatershed.org with your name, e-mail and phone number, so that you may be notified in the event of cancellation due to foul weather.
