OBSERVER Photo by Craig Harvey: The Dunkirk Fire Department was called to the Pier Thursday evening around 6:30 p.m. for a small boat fire behind the boardwalk. While no flames were observed, firefighters fought a considerable amount of smoke. Part of Lake Shore Drive was closed in order for the firefighters to hook a hose to a fire hydrant on the corner of Lake Shore Drive and Central Avenue.
