Police assist vehicle lockout, leads to drug charges
Rafael R. Gonzalez-Rivera, 29, of Maple Avenue, and Onix A. Lopez-Ortiz, 37, of W. Fourth Street, were given multiple charges after a patrol responded to the car wash behind Crosby Mart on Central on Saturday. At around 5:30 p.m., officers arrived at the scene for a vehicle lockout. After opening the door, a strong odor of marijuana was detected, police say.
With the assistance of Dunkirk Police K-9 Gunny, the two were arrested. Gonzalez-Rivera was allegedly found in possession of a quantity of heroin and cocaine, while Lopez-Ortiz possessed marijuana and prescription medication, which was supposedly not properly packaged.
Lopez-Ortiz was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana. Gonzalez-Rivera was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell. Both are awaiting arraignment at Dunkirk City Court.
